Julo was honored for demonstrating her commitment to bravery by sharing a poem that she felt, wrote down, and performed.

"In doing so, she demonstrated a variety of dispositions that we all seek to cultivate on a daily basis," said Hannah Reed, the Upper School Dean of Students.

"She was confident in her words, her delivery, and her conviction," Reed said of Julo. "She was credible as a poetic voice with something important to share. She was captivating; in talking with various students and faculty after, many have described getting goose bumps as she shared her poem. This is a student who may fear the vulnerability that comes with brazenly sharing her beliefs and experiences, but does so anyway."

Julo was also cited for giving praise to her peers and for her classwork, especially her Latin Portfolio, which was used as a model for student thinking and documentation.
