Danbury Flyer Runners Run Well At Cross Country Race In Bethel

DANBURY, Conn. --- Danbury's youth cross country team represented the city well at the Bethel Pumpkin Run at Bethel Middle School.

Danbury took second place while the Flyer boys took fourth. Valerie Fox was the leading scorer for the Flyer girls, securing fourth place overall with a time of 10:41 on the challenging 1.5 mile course. 

Other scorers for the Flyer girls included Maya Gawley in 5th place (10:46), Gabriella Teixeira in 7th place (10:49), Sophia Whelchel in 9th place (11:08:5) and Vivian Mendez in 10th place(11:08:07). 

The Flyer girls ran their Western Connecticut Conference meet record to 5-1 with wins over host Bethel Middle School and Schagticoke Middle School of New Milford, while falling to Jockey Hollow of Monroe.

For the Flyer boys, the top finisher was Scott Gersten, who took 22nd place overall by finishing the course in 10:19. Rounding out the list of Flyer boys to score points for the team included Adam Fox in 33rd place (10:47), Alexander Gibson in 46th place (11:21), Dylan Cooke in 62nd place (11:55), and Steven Confesor-Chable in 72nd place (12:45).
