Murray is the first winner of the award. Winners were selected based on team scores and placements at league, state and regional championships, and how the teams compared with performances in past seasons.
Murray, a former runner at Danbury High, has been coaching the Hatters since 1994. He led Danbury to the conference and State Open titles in the fall, and the Hatters were second in Class LL.
He is also a top track and cross country clinician and has been instrumental in the growth and continued development of the O’Grady Relays at Danbury. He teaches physical education at Danbury High.
