Golfer Mike Reid, who has two wins on the Champions tour, "asked me to bring him down again in the 2nd Division of The Legends in Savannah at the end of April. I’m honored that he would ask me and, despite not playing much, I will battle like Munch chasing a duck," Green announced Wednesday on his Ken Green's Comeback.com blog.
The Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf will be played Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28 at the Savannah Harbor Golf Resort. The purse is $2.7 million with a $230,000 winners share. It is part of the PGA's Champions Tour.
Green has been recovering from injuries sustained in an accident involving his recreational vehicle in Mississippi in June 2009. His brother, William, and his girlfriend, Jeanne Hodgin, died in the wreck, along with his German shepherd dog, Nip. Green suffered serious injuries, and his right leg was amputated.
He won the Fairfield County Sports Commission's Chelsea Cohen Courage Award in 2010 and the Bob Casey Courage Award from the Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance in 2011.
