Immaculate Runner Wins 2nd Straight League Cross Country Title

BETHEL, Conn. -- Immaculate High School sophomore Angela Saidman won her second straight South-West Conference cross country title in Wednesday's league championship meet at Bethel High School.

Saidman finished the 5k course in 19:27.12 and led the Mustangs to a second-place finish. Pomperaug, the state's top-ranked team, won the title with 30 points. Immaculate won the Patriot Division of the SWC and finished second with 56 points.

Danielle Marcone (sixth), Brigid Gage (eighth), Diana Kirkman (14th) and Christina Carboni (27th) were the other scorers for Immaculate. 

New Milford, led by individual winner Eli Nahom, won the boys title with 57 points. Pomperaug finished second. Joel Barlow's Michael Bortolot finished second, covering the 5k course in 16:49.68. The Falcons finished fourth with 113 points.
