The Danbury Ice Cabaret Ensemble, or DICE for short, is a group of skaters of a variety of ages and abilities who join forces to act out a story on ice.
DICE performs locally in shows and competes nationally as part of the Ice Skating Institute, an international skating federation.
This past summer, DICE won two gold medals at the ISI's World Recreational Team Championships held at The Rinks in Anaheim, Calif. The team came in first in Team Production -- acting out a "Lost In Space" theme -- as well as in the Kaleidoskate, performing to "Firework" by Katy Perry and producing a kaleidoscope of colors on the ice.
Skaters on the team come from throughout Fairfield County and range in age from 7 to 17.
To get a flavor for what the team is like, skaters are invited to "the Taste of Theatre" with the award-winning DICE team from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16, at the Danbury Ice Arena.
DICE will be fielding two teams this year, DICETTES and DICE, and the teams are looking for skaters from level ISI Skate 5 and above. Anyone interested in attending the Taste of Theatre or wanting to learn more about DICE can contact coach Gianine Craw at gianine.craw@gmail.com or call the Danbury Ice Arena, 1 Independence Way, Danbury, at 203-794-1704.
