The closure of Route 7 — part of a major bridge repair project in Branchville — is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21.
Precast concrete bridge abutments will be installed this weekend during the closure — all part of a $3.5 million bridge repair project.
And that won't be the end of the detours: Another closure is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28.
During the closures, Route 7 traffic will be routed o Main Street through the center of Ridgefield. Drivers will be rerouted at Route 102 at the southern end of the closure and at the northern end at Route 35.
The bridge carries Route 7 over the Norwalk River just north of the Branchville train station. Metal plates have been on the roadway for weeks in the area.
