Heat Advisory Issued For Danbury As Temperatures Rise

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — There's no relief in sight from the heat after a steamy weekend. A Heat Advisory has been issued for all of Fairfield County for Monday due to Increasing humidity coupled with temperatures soaring into the low 90s, the National Weather Service said.

The Heat Advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Monday for all of the metro New York City area along with most of Connecticut.

The combination of the heat and humidity will increase the risk of health problems, especially for the elderly, those with chronic health issues such as lung and heart disease, those working outdoors and other heat sensitive individuals.

A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it fill like it is 100 to 104 degrees for at least two hours. 

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration urges frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning to reduce the risk. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

On Monday, showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 4 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. 

Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the evening, mainly before 8 p.m. as clouds roll in, with a low around 70. 

Tuesday will be sunny and warm, with a high near 87 degrees.
