The Heat Advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Monday for all of the metro New York City area along with most of Connecticut.
The combination of the heat and humidity will increase the risk of health problems, especially for the elderly, those with chronic health issues such as lung and heart disease, those working outdoors and other heat sensitive individuals.
A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it fill like it is 100 to 104 degrees for at least two hours.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration urges frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning to reduce the risk. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

On Monday, showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 4 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
