FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Heavy rain was falling across Fairfield County on Sunday, bringing thunder and causing floods on area roads.
Backus Avenue between the Danbury Fair Mall and the Shops at Marcus Dairy was blocked off and traffic was being rerouted through a parking lot on Sunday afternoon due to flooding.
Here are rainfall totals from Sunday morning, from the National Weather Service, so the numbers are due to increase:
- Norwalk: 3.10 inches
- Danbury Airport: 1.84 inches
- Georgetown: 1.67 inches
- New Canaan: 1.42 inches
Occasional rain and patchy fog was expected to continue overnight with a low near freezing.
A chance of rain continues Monday, mainly before noon. Freezing rain or sleet are possible early, which could affect the morning commute.
The day will start cloudy, then gradually become mostly sunny, with a high in the upper 40s.
Monday night will be clear and chilly with a low in the 20s.
Tuesday will feel more like spring. They day will be sunny and warm, with a high in the mid-50s.
