Indian Summer Bringing October Heat To Danbury

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — It's going to be hot when October's Indian summer signals its warm and hazy arrival in Fairfield County early in the week.

Some of the trees along Route 59 at Silverman's Farm in Easton show their changing colors. Still, an Indian summer is on its way to Fairfield County.

Monday's cold front will retreat to the north as a warm front moves in during the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Above-average temperatures are expected as the clouds move offshore during the afternoon with highs in the mid-70s along the coast and upper 70s for the New York City metro area and interior locations, the Weather Service said.

Unseasonably warm temperatures will continue Monday night and Tuesday.

Tonight, under mostly cloudy skies, patchy fog moves in after midnight, with low temperatures in the 60s.

Tuesday arrives somewhat shrouded with fog again, then the unseasonable warm air sends the mercury as high as 80. Light and variable winds will pick up by the afternoon.

Tuesday night brings a partial cloud covering, and temperatures turn south, nearly 20 points into the low 60s. Wind gusts will prevail into Tuesday evening.

Hot temperatures will rule the day Wednesday with sunny skies and highs in the low 80s.

Things cool off overnight under mostly cloudy skies when temperatures will be in the mid-50s.

It will be sunny again on Thursday, but cooler, with highs in the lower 70s.

The cooling trend continues into the evening and overnight when temperatures will reach the mid-50s.

Cloudy Friday arrives with the potential for showers. Cooler air continues with numbers as low as 50.
