FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County residents are in store for a sunny and warm Fourth of July, but there is a chance that the area could see some rain or thunderstorms before Independence Day arrives.

Monday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 86, according to the National Weather Service. Sunny conditions could give way to increasing cloudy cover through the afternoon, bringing with it a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Some storms could produce gusty winds as well.

The showers and thunderstorms could linger into the night, when the chance of precipitation will remain 20 percent. Otherwise Monday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. The rain and clouds are expected to clear by morning.

High temperatures on Tuesday will be a little cooler, with a high near 82 expected. The day is predicted to be mostly sunny. The night will be perfect for fireworks shows, as the skies will be mostly clear with a low around 59.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 60. It will be partly sunny on Thursday, when the high will be near 79. Some clouds will then begin moving into the region, and there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday night.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, but otherwise the day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 81. Friday night will see a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low around 67.
