DANBURY, Conn. -- The United Way Corporate Volunteer Award is being presented to Savings Bank of Danbury in honor of its leadership in promoting volunteerism.
Savings Bank of Danbury supports organizations that play a significant role in enhancing the quality of life in nearby communities. Every new employee at the Savings Bank of Danbury is given the opportunity to work on a community service project during the orientation phase of their employment.
Strong participants with United Way’s Workplace Volunteer Council, Savings Bank of Danbury employees donated 48 Spring Buddy Baskets to disadvantaged preschool children in Danbury and helped at the distribution event. In 2014, SBD employees supported the Danbury Food Collaborative, donating more than 5,250 pounds of food, or 2,708 meals.
Employees consistently participate in the Back to School Backpack program, Day of Action, Books and Bears, Community Baby Shower project and King of the Hill 5K. Aside from their impact in terms of volunteerism, the annual employee campaign run by Savings Bank of Danbury uses best practices to motivate employees including participation incentives, raffles and very creative campaign events.
