DANBURY, Conn. -- Republican members of the State Senate and House from the greater Danbury area will be hitting the pavement Wednesday to raise money for the Salvation Army.
The fundraiser, to be held at the Danbury Wal-Mart store at 67 Newtown Road, will take place from noon to 1 p.m.
State Sen. Michael McLachlan (R-Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield and Sherman), and state Reps. Janice Giegler (R-Danbury, New Fairfield, Ridgefield), Dan Carter (R- Bethel, Danbury, Newtown and Redding) and Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield, Bethel and Danbury) are expected to attend.
According to a statement from the group, which represents the House Republican Caucus, this is the third year the lawmakers are participating in the event. Last year, the group helped raise $14,335. In total, the House Republican Caucus has helped raised more than $141,500 over the past six holiday seasons.
Event host Wal-Mart is expected to make a "generous contribution," to the Salvation Army organizers said.
The event is open and free to all.
