The workshop will take place in the Marian Anderson Recital Hall in the Danbury Music Centre, 256 Main St. There is a participation fee of $15. Participants can register in advance at danburymusiccentre.org, or simply show up on the afternoon.

Cuyler, the Vermont-based Village Harmony co-director, will conduct a three-hour hands-on sampling of harmony singing deliberately chosen from among some of the world’s most powerful community singing traditions, with three- and four-part songs from South Africa, the Republic of Georgia and the island of Corsica.

Wordsheets, diagrams and musical notation will be supplied as appropriate to each genre of music.

Since 1995, Culyer has served as the co-director of the Vermont-based nonprofit Village Harmony and its professional touring ensemble, Northern Harmony. She lives in Chicago.
