DANBURY, Conn. -- Occupy Danbury and a Common Ground present "Movie Nights for the 99%!"

The movies will take place at A Common Ground.

Here are the movies that will be shown:

  • "A Face in the Crowd" - Wednesday, Sept. 16, 7:30 p.m. -- This is about a country-western singer whose rise to fame brings grand ambitions, and his political aspirations lead to his downfall. 
  • "The Pursuit of Happiness" - Wednesday, Sept. 30, 7:30 p.m. -- an investigation of the immigrant experience in the United States. This movie presents immigrants' individual struggles in an increasingly multicultural nation. 
  • "Buena Vista Social Club" - Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m. -- This 1999 documentary looks at Cuba’s foremost folk musicians who recently worked together with American guitarist Ry Cooder to produce an album of the same name. In this movie, the musicians give their life stories, from the crumbling neighborhoods of Havana to their sold out concerts in Amsterdam and New York’s Carnegie Hall.
