Barbara Hartman, who can be reached at Barbara-hartman@sbcglobal.net, is heading up the event. She advises those who wish to participate in the cleanup project to get a neighborhood group together.

Participants will need big black garbage bags, gloves for everyone, and safety vests. Residents should get to work in the area where they live or in an area that has a trash problem, she said.

Pickup for the filled black bags will be Farmingville, East Ridge and Ridgefield High School, and Fox Hill Lake.

Bags from the Rid Litter Project will be picked up at those sites on April 11.
