MONROE, Conn. -- Who can resist the cozy booth of a diner? If you’re not drawn in by the often retro ambiance, you’re no doubt driven by the menu, mammoth undertakings filled with pages and pages of comfort food, not to mention unlimited cups of coffee.

Known For: "Plentifulness, friendliness and our fresh food," said Owner Dimitra Tsilfides who said it was hard to choose as "there are so many things."

"We have homemade blintzes, homemade cheesecake, great dinners, fresh fish, and so on," she said. "We're also the only diner that serves gourmet sautés and dinners for a great price."

Behind the Scenes: The family also owns Circle Diner in Fairfield. Two of the owners of Monroe Diner also own Sherwood Diner in Westport.
