Danbury Hosts Workshop For Prospective Weather Spotters

DANBURY, Conn. -- Free training for people interested in becoming weather spotters will be held by the National Weather Service Skywarn Spotter Program on Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m. in Room 125 of the Science Building on Western Connecticut State University’s Midtown campus, 181 White St.

The free workshop will provide instruction about how to observe and report specific types of clouds that form before severe weather such as hail, high winds or a tornado. Safety tips will be provided on how to prepare for and respond to flash floods, severe thunderstorms and lightning.

The 2 1/2-hour class is open to the public, emergency managers, first responders, amateur radio operators, teachers and students at the eighth-grade level and above.

Attendees will receive a Spotter ID card upon completion of the class.
