DANBURY, Conn. - Two middle school students have donated their time and effort to ensure the pediatric patients of Danbury Hospital have new reading material to enjoy.
Emma Beal and Kailee Gunn, both 11 and students at Whisconier Middle School in Brookfield , printed fliers and organized book drives in their neighborhoods to collect books and also receive cash donations and gift cards intended for the purchase of additional books.
“We are very grateful to Emma and Kailee for their generosity and hard work,” Grace Linhard, chief development officer of the Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) Foundation, said in a statement.
“Their gift of books will be enjoyed by the many children and families who visit Danbury Hospital each year.”
For their efforts, Beal and Gunn have been inducted as members of the WCHN Kids Care Club at Danbury Hospital, a philanthropic organization for children and young adults under 18.
