The judge suspended Christian P. Williams’s sentence after 10 years and gave him five years’ probation as well in the death of Ayden Baskay, who died of head injuries while in Williams' care, the Danbury News-Times reported.

Ayden’s mother, Jacqueline Baskay, cried in court as she talked about the things she will never experience, such as he child's first trip to school, and his grandmother recalled the joy his smile brought to everyone, the Danbury News-Times story said.

Williams, who had pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor, sat stone-faced and silent during the proceedings in Danbury Superior Court, the Danbury News-Times article said.

According to an earlier Danbury News-Times story, Williams had been investigated in 2012 by police and the state Department of Children and Families after Ayden, then only four months old, had become unconscious while in his father's care.

Charges were not bought against Williams, but Baskay was advised not to allow him around Ayden any more, the Danbury News-Times story said.
