State Prosecutor Jonathan Levin told The News-Times that the investigation may lead to additional charges of misdemeanor animal cruelty against Richard Doyle, 55, of Mahopac, N.Y.

As previously reported, Doyle owns American Breeders on Federal Road in Danbury as well as a store in Mohegan Lake, N.Y. A store in Wappingers Falls was closed on Sept. 30. He was arrested in July and charged with three counts of animal cruelty.

Doyle allegedly performed an unauthorized surgical procedure on the eye of a Neapolitan Mastiff, confined a critically ill kitten without providing veterinary care and not providing care for an ill Shih-Tzu puppy and the animals were euthanized, the News Times reported.
