Danbury’s Ives Concert Park Partners With NYC Promoter

DANBURY, Conn. – Although there’s still snow on the ground, the board of directors at the Ives Concert Park in Danbury is looking forward to an exciting summer with the park’s new partner, New York City-based promoter The Bowery Presents. The outdoor venue has been around since 1975, and the new partnership will allow for “an even more impressive array” of musical acts, officials said.

“Our relationship with The Bowery Presents allows us to partner with a respected national leader in live entertainment while elevating the choices for live music for the region,” said Steve Greenberg, chairman of the board of the Charles Ives Authority for the Performing Arts. ”The Ives/Bowery Presents partnership will continue our successful growth as a ‘must destination’ for all concertgoers. I am excited to be working with them.”

The Bowery Presents is an independent promotion company that has worked with many musicians, including Willie Nelson, Aretha Franklin, LCD Soundsystem and Kings of Leon. The company owns and operates several New York and New Jersey venues, such as Terminal 5, The Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge, according to a statement from the company.

The company launched extensions in Boston and Vermont in 2010 and partnered with concert venues in Maine and Philadelphia in 2011.

“The Bowery Presents is excited to promote concerts in Western Connecticut at a beautiful outdoor venue such as the Ives,” said Jim Glancy, a partner at The Bowery Presents. “We look forward to announcing the lineup for summer 2013 in the near future.”
