Palosz shot himself with a family-owned shotgun on Aug. 27, 2013, and his death was investigated after a glimpse into his past revealed that he may have been a victim of bullying for years.
Greenwich Superintendent of Schools William McKersie issued a letter at the time of his death, assuring parents and residents that a full investigation by the Greenwich Police Department was under way, as well as a thorough examination of the school's policies and procedures regarding bullying, social media monitoring, and more.
Anna Izabela, Palosz's mother, filed a $15,000 lawsuit on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Palosz's family believes that the school did not do enough or follow anti-bullying policies that could have saved his life, greenwichtime.com said.
Palosz dealt with bullying while attending Western Middle School and Greenwich High School, according to the lawsuit, and exposed some of the incidents that went on during his school days, greenwichtime.com reported.
According to the lawsuit, incidents of bullying against Palosz included name calling, teasing, verbal and physical assault and more, greenwichtime.com said. The administration was also aware of the bullying after meeting with Palosz and hearing of the assault, the story said.
