Power Outages Still Lingering In Danbury After Strong Storms

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Saturday's heat gave way to powerful thunderstorms with flashes of lightning across Fairfield County, which inevitable gave way to large power outages.

Outages numbered in the thousands on Saturday night, but many still lingered across the area on Sunday morning. 

As of 9:45 a.m., Eversource was reporting the following power outages: 

  • Bethel: 3 customers
  • Brookfield: 1 customer
  • Danbury: 172 customers 
  • Easton: 1 customer
  • Fairfield: 1 customer 
  • Greenwich: 162 customers
  • New Canaan: 2 customers 
  • Newtown: 320 customers
  • Norwalk: 20 customers
  • Redding: 33 customers 
  • Shelton: 7 customers 
  • Stamford: 26 customers 
  • Trumbull: 71 customers 
  • Westport: 16 customers
  • Wilton: 2 customers 
Eversource reported that 16,000 customers statewide lost power overnight, with Greenwich, Cos Cob, Danbury, Westport and Newtown among some of the heaviest hit.

It was not clear when the outages would all be repaired.
