Becky Virgalla, a reading specialist at the school was in a meeting near the front of the building. She was only steps from walking out in the hall when Principal Dawn Hochsprung shouted out there was a shooter in the school, CBS News reported.

Second-grade teacher Abbey Clements recalled how the intercom was accidentally left on, allowing the sounds of guns shots to travel into every room in the school, CBS said.

The surviving teachers also discussed how they have taken the fear and anger from that day two years ago, and channeled that in to activism in an attempt to prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again, CBS said.
