DANBURY, Conn. — Phyllis Boughton, the wife of eight-term Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, filed divorce papers Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court, the News-Times reports.
She cited irreconcilable differences for the breakup, with the mayor telling the News-Times that the two had grown apart over the years.
Mayor Mark, as he is known on Twitter, has a large social media following. A Republican, Boughton was the lieutenant governor candidate in 2010 and many believe he plans to run for governor in 2018.
