DANBURY, Conn. - Joseph L. Scozzafava Jr. of Danbury died Tuesday, Dec. 31. He was 85.
Scozzafava was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Danbury; son of Joseph L. and Catherine (Paonessa) Scozzafava. He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School in the Class of 1947.
A U.S. Army veteran serving of the Korean conflict, he was a retired owner of Henry Street Market of Danbury. A lifelong Danbury resident, he was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and St. Joseph Parish.
Scozzafava is survived by his wife, Anne Marie (Mahon) Scozzafava; son, Henry Scozzafava Sr. (Joy) of Danbury; daughter, Katherine Keller (Roger) of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepson, Joseph Forlastro of Danbury; brother, John Scozzafava (Paula) of Danbury; sister, Eleanor Torielli (Walter) of Danbury; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Saverino Scozzafava.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Danbury, with the Rev. David W. Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Scozzafava’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s own choosing.
