Bethel Man, 20, Mugged Another Man In Downtown Danbury, Police Say

DANBURY, Conn — A 20-year-old Bethel was arrested on charges of mugging a man in downtown Danbury is also facing multiple drug charges, Danbury police said.

The street robbery was reported at 4:25 a.m. July 1 on Terrace Place for the report of a street robbery, police said. 

The adult male victim sustained injuries to his head but refused medical attention, police said. He told police that a man, later identified as Luiny Delacruz, 20 of Bethel, had assaulted him and taken his money.

Danbury police detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Delacruz. 

Patrol officers found Delacruz at 9:15 p.m. Friday, July 7, walking on Division Street and placed him under arrest, police said. 

He was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and a crack pipe at the time, police said.

For the narcotics, Delacruz was charged with possession of controlled substance-narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia and held on $25,000 bond.

For the robbery, he was charged with third-degree robbery and second-degree larceny and held on $100,000 bond.
