At about 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, the Danbury Police Department responded to Sienna Way on the report of an assault.
The complainant said her 3-year-old daughter had been assaulted by the nanny earlier in the day, resulting in second-degree burns to the child's hands and leg, police said.
When she arrived home after work, the mother said that she had noticed the injuries to her child and the nanny said the child had accidentally touched the hot stove while she was tending to the other children, police said.
The 3-year-old child was treated by her doctor and returned home, police said. The mother then reviewed the video from the hidden nanny camera she had installed recently and saw that the injuries were intentionally inflicted upon the child by the nanny, police said.
The nanny, Lidia Quilligana, of Homestead Avenue, Danbury, was located at her home and placed under arrest, police said.
She was charged with first-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and third-degree criminal mischief. After processing, she was held on $100,000 bond.
This investigation is ongoing has been referred to the Special Victims Unit for follow-up.
