At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, investigators approached Isaac Barruos while he was his car, which was stopped in traffic at the intersection of Newtown Road and Triangle Street, police said.
Officers took him into custody, and investigators proceeded to his home at 17 Park Ave. to execute another search warrant.
Members of the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, General Investigations Division and a department K-9 officer executed the court-authorized search-and-seizure warrants.
The warrants were issued as a result of an investigation that began weeks earlier in response to citizen complaints that Barruos was selling illegal drugs from his home and throughout the Danbury area, police said.
Based on a surveillance of Barruos and his home, which revealed activity consistent with drug trafficking, a Danbury Superior Court judge authorized the search of Barruos, his car and his home, police said.
Barruos was found to be in possession of cocaine packed for sale, which was in his possession, police said. Additionally, a quantity of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency were found in his home, police said.
Barruos was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school.
He was held on $10,000 bond pending arraignment.
