DANBURY, Conn -- The American Red Cross is helping 18 Danbury families Monday morning following a fire Sunday on the top floor of a four-story building on Main Street that left them homeless, according to the News-Times.
Firefighters arrived on scene at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday and found flames and smoke coming from the fourth floor of the building, which has businesses on the bottom floor and apartments on the other three floors, the News-Times reported. Fire officials said the flames were quickly doused in two of the apartments, said the News-Times.
According to the fire department, no injuries were reported, and the Red Cross is providing comfort kits and other resources, according to the News-Times. The cause of the fire is under investigation, added the News-Times.
