A driver escaped without injury after a fire broke out on a tractor-trailer on I-84 in Danbury early Monday morning.
Just before 3 a.m., Western Connecticut 911 center started receiving calls for a tractor-trailer fire on westbound I-84 between exits 5 and 6.
Fire units were dispatched to the highway and upon arrival found a fully involved trailer which was loaded with paper goods, according to James Gagliardo, public information officer for the Danbury Fire Department.
The driver was able to disconnect the trailer from the tractor prior to arrival.
Units flowed firefighting foam to extinguish the fire quickly. Units remained on scene to assist in overhauling the trailer's load to confirm the fire had been fully extinguished.
Connecticut State Police was on scene and assisted with traffic control. The Danbury Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to the scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.
