ID Released For Victim Of Apparent Targeted Shooting In Bridgeport

A man who was shot and killed on Tuesday night in Bridgeport in an apparently targeted shooting has been identified.

The victim was 30-year-old Edwin "Jeremy" Mangual, 30 of Victory Street in Bridgeport. 

Detectives continue to work to establish a motive.

The city's ninth homicide of the year took place around 7:30 p.m. in front of 73/75 Laurel Ave., said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.

According to police,  Mangual was found unresponsive at the scene, shot in the torso and neck. He was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Harris said the killing was not a random act of violence and the victim appears to have been targeted.
