Man, 39, Charged With Killing Dog During Domestic Disturbance In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. — A 39-year-old Danbury man was arrested after killing a small dog during a domestic disturbance Thursday night, police said.

The man, identified as Wesley Texeira DeSouza, had returned to his residence on Osborne Street and got into a physical altercation with his spouse at about 8:18 p.m., Danbury police said.

Before leaving the house, DeSouza also assaulted and killed a small dog, police said. Two minor children were present in the home during the incident, police said.

Officers located DeSouza at a friend's residence shortly thereafter, and he was taken into custody without incident, police said.

DeSouza was arrested and charged with second-degree strangulation, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, cruelty to animals, and two counts of first-degree risk of injury. 

DeSouza was held on $25,000 bond.
