One Seriously Injured In Crash With Tractor-Trailer On I-95

The driver of a van received serious injuries after slamming into the back of a tractor-trailer that was stopped for construction on I-95 in Fairfield County, according to the Connecticut State Police.

The crash took place around 1 a.m. Thursday on I-95 southbound in Westport, after the driver of the van, Robert Siedlinski, 41, of Bridgewater, Massachusets, hit a tractor-trailer that was stopped in the center lane due to construction taking place, while attempting to change lanes, said the state police.

The tractor-trailer driver was not injured, but Siedlinski, who was entrapped, received serious injuries and had to be extricated from the van by a group of 21 Westport firefighters who worked for more than an hour to remove the van and the driver.

Throughout the incident, the injured driver received patient care from Westport firefighters who entered the vehicle and remained with the driver until he was extricated and transported to the hospital by Westport EMS.
