Pedestrian Struck By Car On New Street In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- A 42-year-old woman was struck by a car while standing in the roadway on New Street on Tuesday evening, Oct. 28, Danbury police said.

The accident occurred about 9 p.m., police said. Officers responded to the area of New Street and Stevens Street on a report of car that hit a pedestrian, police said.

She was hit by a car driven by a 39-year-old Danbury man who was traveling south on New Street, police said. The woman was already in the roadway but not within the crosswalk, police said.

It was not clear why the woman was stopped in the street, but it is believed to be alcohol related, police said.

The woman was transported to Danbury Hospital by ambulance and was listed in stable condition Wednesday with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the accident are asked to contact Danbury Police Officer Glenn Utter at 203-797-4611, ext. 568.
