Police are asking for help identifying a woman who was killed when she was hit by a car while standing in the middle of a roadway in Danbury.

The incident took place around 6:30 a.m. Thursday when in the area of 48 Franklin St., Danbury, said the Danbury Police Department.

A preliminary investigation indicates that 38-year-old Angel Cambizaca of Danbury was traveling westbound on Franklin Street when his 2006 Honda Civic collided with the unidentified female who was in the roadway, said Det. Lt. Mark Williams.

The female was transported to Danbury Hospital where she died from her injuries, he added.

"The identity of the female is unknown at this time and we are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying her," Williams said.

The woman is described as being white, possibly Hispanic, in her 50s, approximately 5 feet tall with short black hair.

At the time of the incident, she was wearing a black knit hat, blue slip-on sneakers, blue fleece lined leggings with patterns on the pockets, DKNY gray hooded fleece-lined coat, and a white t-shirt, police said.

She was also wearing gold and silver colored dangling-type rope earrings, a gold-colored ring with clear baguette cornerstones and purple center stone and a gold colored Timex watch with a white face.

This collision is under investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Traffic Division.

Anyone who witnessed this collision or has information on the identity of the female pedestrian please contact Officer Keith Leggiadro or Officer Matthew Malone at 203-797-2157.
