Reward Offered In Hit-And-Run Death Of 23-Year-Old Mother In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- A reward is being offered for information about the hit-and-run death of a 23-year-old woman in Danbury who worked as a certified nursing assistant with Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut, police said.

Rachel Sack of Bethel, who has a 9-week-old son, was struck by a motorist just before midnight on Friday, Nov. 7, as she was walking on South Street just south of Great Pasture Road, police said. 

The suspect's vehicle was traveling south toward Bethel when the accident occurred, police said.

Police are reviewing physical evidence from the incident and are pursuing any and all leads.

The Danbury Police are asking all witnesses or persons having information about this collision to contact Sgt. Rory DeRocco at 203-797-2157 or R.DeRocco@danbury-ct.gov.

Regional Hospice is setting up a reward fund for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the driver. 

"She was loved and deeply appreciated by her colleagues, as well as the patients and the families she cared for," according to her colleagues at Regional Hospice. "Rachel was selfless and loved her work, as well as all she worked with and for."
