Second Arrest Made In Suspicious Death Of Stamford Woman

Stamford Police have made a second arrest in the suspicious death of a local woman earlier this week.

Olga Iris Lopez, 36, of Pequot Lane, was found dead around 5:49 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, after Stamford police and medical rescue personnel were called to the home where she was found unconscious and unresponsive lying on the living room floor, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.

Her husband, Hector Lopez, aka Hector Collazzo, was arrested Tuesday and charged with charged with cruelty to persons for withholding medical care for his wife, police said.

During an investigation into her death, officers learned that Lopez had a significant brain bleed and that she had extensive bruising throughout her body, Conklin said.

On Friday, police arrested Lopez's mother, Mercedes Martinez, and charged her with cruelty to persons, said Lt. Thomas Scanlon.

Lopez is being held by the Department of Corrections on a $250,000 bond. Hernandez was held on $25,000 court appearance bond.

Iris Lopez, 36, died at Stamford Hospital hours after she was found unconscious in Hernandez’s apartment.

Olga and Hector Lopez have three children. The children are in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
