Services for 25-year-old Emily Todd of Bethel, who was found fatally shot on Seaview Avenue/ Newfield Avenue adjacent to the boat launch ramp on Sunday,  will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bethel Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church, 141 Greenwood Ave., Bethel. A reception will follow downstairs.

Since Todd was found dead, friends and family members have taken to social media to express their condolences for the 2011 Bethel High School graduate who worked in the memory care unit at Saint John Paul II Center, a senior living facility in Danbury.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Emily’s family," said Lori Mayer, a spokeswoman for Saint John Paul's. "Emily was a very special person."

She was a therapeutic recreation assistant at Saint John Paul II Center. She planned activities for dementia patients and often worked one-on-one with them.

Mayer said Todd was a "kind and beautiful soul," whom the residents and their families "absolutely loved."

"She will be truly missed," Mayer said.

Family member Greg Henry echoed that sentiment on a Bethel community Facebook page.

"The grief is unimaginable and we desperately want for Emily to be remembered as the kind-hearted and loving girl that she was," he wrote.

Detectives believe that Todd was in the company of a male whom she recently met.

"We are pursuing substantial leads in the case and continue to examine evidence collected through the day yesterday and today," Bridgeport Police said.

Todd was born on April 7, 1993, in Portland, Maine to Stephen Todd and Jennifer Henry Lawlor. She is also survived by her loving step-parents, Tom Lawlor and Vicki Todd and her brothers Sean Lawlor, Cameron Todd and Caleb Todd.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you consider making a contribution in Emily’s name to the following organizations: Mom’s Demand Action at https://give.everytown.org/fundraiser/1809788 or Island Commons at https://www.islandcommons.com/
