Kendrick Pozo, 23, of Stamford, was busted Thursday, Nov. 29, after officers with the Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad received a tip that Pozo would be traveling to New York City to make a "buy," said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.

Officers set up a surveillance on Pozo's Main Street home around 6 p.m. Thursday and waited until he entered his grey Dodge Ram pick-up truck and drove to I-95 and headed to the city.

Agents returned to his home and waited for about three hours when he returned about 9 p.m. and pulled into his driveway, Conklin said.

That's when the officers moved in and attempted to apprehend Pozo as he exited the vehicle with his hands in pockets. Instead of surrendering, Pozo took off running through a park with officers in pursuit. Once they caught up with him near West Main Street, he still resisted arrested, but was finally cuffed and brought in, Conklin said.

When officers searched Pozo they found 250 folds of fentanyl marked 91/2 that were bundled into 10 count packages stuffed in his pockets.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, and interfering with an officer. Officers also found two alprazolam pills in his truck and added a charge of possession of a controlled substance, Conklin added.

During booking, officers found that Pozo was in violation of probation. Police asked for a $50,000 bond, but the arraignment judge increased that amount to $100,000 and added another $100,000 for the probation violation.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 13.

"Another good job by the squad helping to keep drugs off the streets of Stamford," Conklin said.
