Two Danbury Schools Placed On Lockdown After 20-Year-Old Man Is Shot

DANBURY, Conn. — A 20-year-old man was shot in both arms with buckshot near Mill Ridge Primary School and Westside Middle School Academy in Danbury on Thursday afternoon, forcing the schools to be placed on lockdown, police said.

At 1:21 p.m. Thursday, Danbury Police, EMS and Fire Department were sent to a residence on Church Hill Road on the report of the shooting. 

Upon arrival, they found the man with two gunshot injuries, one in each arm, police said. The gunshots were bird-shot-style ammo, police said. 

He was transported to Danbury Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Westside Middle School Academy and the Mill Ridge Primary School were placed on a temporary lockdown for about a half-hour while officers searched for a suspect, police said.

The victim's father said his son had been shot after telling someone who was parked in front of their house to move their car, according to the News-Times.

No students were outside during the time of the shooting, the News-Times reported.

No further information was provided by police.
