On Friday, July 1, the Danbury Police Department's Community Conditions Unit was conducting a surveillance in Farrington Woods Park at 127 Mill Plain Road off I-84 near the New York border. At about 1:15 p.m., officers observed multiple vehicles enter and park in the lot, police said.
One was a gray Toyota Camry, whose driver was later identified as Marvin Iraheta, 42, of Danbury.
Iraheta got out of his car and walked on a trail into the woods, police said. A few minutes later, a grey Honda Accord pulled in and parked. The driver, later identified as Bruno Butera, 61, of Danbury, headed into the woods on the same trail, police said.
Officers then observed Iraheta and Butera standing in a clearing in the woods and engaging in a sexual act, police said.
Butera and Iraheta were each charged with public indecency. Each was released on $500 bond.
Over the past several weeks, there have been multiple complaints at Farrington Woods Park, police said.
Several of the complaints said that parkgoers were being solicited for sex acts by men parked in the parking lot, police said. Other complainants stated they have seen adult men engaged in sex acts in the woods and in the parking lot area, police said.
Police made four other arrests at the park last week on charges of public indecency.
Two men were arrested at 3:19 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. Patsy Barbato is 77 and is a Somers resident. Michael Melnick is 85 and is a Brewster resident. Both have a court date of July 13.
The second pair was arrested at 2:05 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. Jay Doyle, of New Milford, is 67, and has a July 11 court date. Stuart Sherr is 72 and is an Ossining resident. His court date is July 7.
