Ganim To Attend Trump Inaugural, Boughton To Sit It Out

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Mayor Joe Ganim, a Democrat, plans to attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony next week, while Danbury's Republican Mayor Mark Boughton, who has clashed in the past with the country's incoming chief executive, said he plans to sit out the event, according to the Connecticut Post.

Both Ganim and Boughton will be in Washington D.C. next week for the winter meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. But Boughton will be skipping town when the conference ends Thursday rather than seeing Trump's swearing-in next Friday. Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling will also leave when the conference ends, the Connecticut Post reported.

Ganim, along with Bridgeport’s Democratic Town Committee Chairman Mario Testa, will attend, the Connecticut Post said.

“I’ve just got a lot to do,” Boughton told the Connecticut Post.
