Who do you plan on voting for in the 2018 CT governor's race?

  • Former General Electric executive Bob Stefanowski (R)
    61%
  • Greenwich cable television entrepreneur Ned Lamont (D)
    39%

Lamont, a former cable TV executive from Greenwich, also criticized Stefanowski for his plan to eliminate the personal income tax in Connecticut.

“These Republicans, these are not George and Barbara Bush Republicans, these are not old-fashioned Connecticut Republicans and these are not Connecticut values,” Lamont said, hours after Trump endorsed Stefanowski on Twitter.

"It is about time that Connecticut had a real and talented Governor," Trump's tweet said. "Bob Stefanowski is the person needed to do the job. Tough on crime, Bob is also a big cutter of Taxes. He will win in November and make a Great Governor, a major difference maker. Bob has my total Endorsement!"

In response, Lamont dubbed the Republican from Madison “Trumpanowski.” “Congratulations Bob,” Lamont said at a press conference Wednesday morning at his New Haven headquarters. “Nobody embraced Donald Trump more closely than Bob Stefanowski during that primary."

Stefanowski also is running on his business background having worked as a division chief executive in several General Electric divisions before working as chief financial officer with UBS Investment Bank and other international firms.

Stefanowski replied by trying to link Lamont to two-term Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who has some of the lowest approval ratings in the nation among U.S. governors. Stefanowski dubbed Lamont "Ned Malloy" in a Tweet.
