Republicans Keep Majority On Danbury City Council

DANBURY, Conn. -- Mark Boughton, a Republican, was re-elected mayor in Danbury Tuesday, and his party continued its control on the City Council.

The councilmen-at-large elected were Michael J. Haddad Sr., Gregg W. Seabury, Warren M. Levy, Philip D. Curran, Jack Knapp, Colleen A. Stanley and Andrew R. Wetmore, all Republicans. 

The winners for council members for wards were: 

  • Ward One: Republicans John D. Priola and Irving Matthew Fox
  • Ward Two: Republicans Vinny DiGilio and Elmer Palma
  • Ward Three: Republicans Christopher J. Arconti and Joe Cavo
  • Ward Four: Democrats Thomas J. Saadi and Peter Nero
  • Ward Five: Democrats Duane Perkins and Fred Visconti
  • Ward Six: Democrats Benjamin Chianese and Paul Rotello
  • Ward Seven: Republicans Marina Loyola and Joseph L. Scozzafava

Other winners in Tuesday's elections in Danbury were:

Republican Daniel P. Jowdy was re-elected town treasurer in an uncontested race.

Incumbent Democrat Lori A. Kaback was re-elected as town clerk.

For the Board of Education, incumbent Republican Eileen Alberts and Democrats Kathleen Molinaro and Richard Jannelli were elected along with Republicans Michael Ferguson and Ralph Pietrafesa.

Winners on the Zoning Commission were Republicans Robert C. Melillo, Alan J. Kovacs, Carlos G. Valenzuela, Jeffrey R. Giegler, Annette M. Zatkovich, Jeffrey Barath, Robert W. Laber, Christina M. Chieffalo and Sally M. Estefan. 

Republicans Robert F. Arconti, Robert G. Oravetz and Kevin C. Haas were elected to the Zoning Commission as alternates. 

Republicans Louise P. McMahon, Michael J. Esposito and Michael Safranek were elected constables.
