Danbury Valedictorian Featured In Final Concert With Community Orchestra

DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury High School valedictorian Priyanka Altman will be the featured performer with the Danbury Community Orchestra in its concert on Sunday, May 4.

The Danbury Community Orchestra will perform under Stephen Michael Smith at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Ives Concert Hall in White Hall at 181 White St. on the Midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. 

Altman, a violinist, will perform Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, movement 1. Priyanka is the concert master of the Danbury Community Orchestra and valedictorian of Danbury High School’s Class of 2014. She is set to attend Dartmouth in the fall, majoring in biochemistry. The concert will be Altman's final concert as a member of the Community Orchestra. She is also a member of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra.

The program includes the "Sorcerer’s Apprentice," the 1897 symphonic poem by Paul Dukas made famous in the 1940 Disney movie "Fantasia."

Admission is free, courtesy major funding from Joan and Stephen Howard in memory of Marian Brawer, Joan’s sister.
