Danbury Flyers Youth Runners Pick Up Medals At Cross Country Meet

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Flyers participated in a highly competitive USA Track and Field cross country meet held last Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.

Despite fierce competition from elite runners from the Greater New York City Area, the Flyers had three medalists: Gabiella Teixeira, Maya Gawley, and Valerie Fox.

Results, including the place and time for each of the Flyers, are as follows:

Boys (Ages 9-10) 3000m (71 runners competed)

Elias Alvarado - 46th (15:50.9)

Max Coisman - 62nd (18:52.7)

Girls (Ages 9-10) 3000m (75 runners competed)

Keila Donascimento - 55th (17:57.5)

Nicoly Donascimento - 61st (19:12.1)

Tylyn Jonhson - 68th (21:36.3)

Boys (Ages 11-12) 3000m (50 runners competed)

Steven Confesor-Chable - 39th (15:25.9)

Camilo Cordova - 49th (17:00.4)

Girls (Ages 11-12) 3000m (71 runners competed)

Gabriella Teixeira - 6th (12:17.5)

Maya Gawley - 7th (12:19.2)

Vivian Mendez - 33rd (14:22.6)

Zoe Bowman - 44th (15:47.2)

Boys (Ages 13-14) 4000m (31 runners competed)

Adam Fox - 22nd (19:18.5)

Girls (Ages 13-14) 4000m (38 runners competed)

Valerie Fox - 11th (18:24.7)

The Flyers will will participate in the AAU Junior Olympics Connecticut qualifier Sunday in New Haven.
